“A wiser man than me once said, ‘Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes it eats you.’”
That’s what the Cowboy tells The Dude at the end of The Big Lobowski. On the internet there’s a lot of debate about the true meaning of this. Either way, I like it because to me it neatly sums up my life at the moment.
Writing this blog each week really focuses my attention. There is no hiding from what has and hasn’t been achieved. Especially what hasn’t.
This has been a week lacking in achievement on Ferried. I was hoping to be able to announce our corporate partner; I was hoping to have an actor interested, and I was hoping to have begun planning our location recce. None of this happened.
But it certainly wasn’t a bad week. The weather was pretty poor in London, but I still got out. I had an interesting meeting with a producer. And we got some great news about other projects.
Statisticians tell us that the average person takes 256 selfies before posting the perfect one on Instagram*. We live in a world where everything must be perfect.
Sadly that’s not how it goes with making films.
So I guess this blog post is the equivalent my #NoMakeUpSelfie. This is me saying that I didn’t achieve much on Ferried this week. But I will next week… Hopefully.
